Kendriya Vidyalaya, Naval Armament Depot, Sunabeda was established in the year 1989 with 5 classes (Class I to V) with an enrolment of 91 students. Started in the Defence sector to cater to the educational needs of the children of the employees of Naval Armament Depot (NAD), MES, Security Corps and the other local population, the KV grew into a full-fledged school up to Class XII with 361 students to-day.

Sunabeda is a small place in the district of Koraput in Southern Orissa. It is situated in the mountains of Eastern Ghats at an altitude of 1019m. Surrounded by mountains, lush green forests, the natural scenario of Sunabeda offers feast to the eyes. Nature is at her best here.

Sunabeda remained a less known place till the factory of Hindustan aeronautics Ltd was established. The township of HAL is spread over a large area.
This place is connected by road only. The nearest railway station is Koraput, 25 km away.

KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA, NAD, Sunabeda is situated in NAVAL ARMAMENT DEPOT which is 10 km away from HAL complex. It is in the interior region which is accessible through a ghat road of 5 km.

The remoteness and lack of any public transport system is responsible for the slow growth of this place. Situated in a beautiful place in the lap of nature and with no kind of pollution at all, this KV reminds any one of Santiniketan.
